Best Beaches – Island of O’ahu

Probably the most photographed Hawaiian weddings occur in either Maui or O’ahu.

One of the most popular on O’ahu is at Waimanalo Bay.   Waimanalo Bay and Beach Park (https://www.to-hawaii.com/oahu/beaches/waimanalobeachpark)is a beautiful stretch of sand perfect for your Hawaii beach wedding. Located in the Oahu town of Waimanalo, it is one of our most popular wedding locations. The turquoise water, golden sand, and islands in the background provide the perfect backdrop for your ceremony.  I have been there many times and can tell you that it is amazing!   It is a world away from crowded Honolulu and Waikiki and It can be breezy -especially in the winter months.

A lesser known beach, but a great wedding destination on O’ahu is Papa’iloa Beach on the North Shore.  This long white sandy beach is tucked behind residential homes and is very secluded.  The waves can be high in the winter months, but this can be a spectacular backdrop for your wedding and especially your photos!

Other amazing beaches (non Waikiki/Honolulu locations) include -

Makapuu Beach, Turtle Bay Resort (https://www.turtlebayresort.com/weddings/wedding-packages), Sunset Beach, and Waialae’e Beach.

Best Beaches – Maui

Beautiful Maui. Maui was made for romantic weddings, in fact it is the #1 destination for weddings. And although it is fairly easy to apply for your permit to marry on Maui, there are some restrictions. It is important to remember that all beaches in Maui county are considered Public beaches. And beach weddings can have not more than 20 people attending – including the officiate, photographer, wedding coordinator and the bride and groom. The number of guests must be submitted when applying for the beach wedding permit! Once you get your permit the process to select the location is full of choices. https://wikipermits.ehawaii.gov/permits/welcome.html

Maui has some of the most remote places to celebrate you wedding or to enjoy your honeymoon.

Romantic, and unique and welcoming always welcoming for weddings.

Makena Cove, or Secret Beach, is on South Maui and is a very private and includes palm trees and lava rocks.  It is very small and will accommodate about 10 guests.  If you have a small group – don’t overlook this amazing beach.

A few miles north of Makena and the Wailea Hotels is Kamaole Beach Park.  In the early morning you can see sunrise over the volcano and it is also a perfect beach for sunset weddings!  There are three separate areas within this beach park, all with different views and level of activity – to include parking and sometimes crowds.

Of course there are always the large hotels and their beaches on both these islands.  But before you decide on you wedding location sure to explore the more secluded, romantic and truly Hawaiian spots that you will remember forever.
